Diary Marker- High Court reserves judgement in strike injunction case until Tuesday, April 27th
Judge Mary Laffoy reserved judgement in the injunction proceedings at the High Court today over the Pickerings Lifts dispute in Ballymun, Dublin. She said she would consider the important issues involved and issue her decision on Tuesday, April 27th.
The Technical Engineering and Electrical Union has been injuncted by Dublin City Council to prevent it from picketing in Ballymun where it has been involved in a dispute over redundancies with Pickerings Lifts since February 4th.
An ex parte injunction was served on the union on Tuesday evening to stop members picketing in Ballymun. The TEEU responded in the High Court today.
The Labour Court issued a Recommendation to resolve the dispute on April 7th. This was accepted by the TEEU but the company has so far refused to engage with the Court or the TEEU.
TEEU Assistant General Secretary Arthur Hall said after today’s hearing that the Union will continue to abide by the terms of the injunction while awaiting Judge Laffoy’s decision. However he added that members will continue to picket other locations where Pickerings Lifts Ltd has contracts.
