LRC to resume talks later today on electrical contracting dispute

July 10th, 2009.

The talks on the electrical contracting dispute at the Labour Relations Commission adjourned shortly after 2am today and are to resume at 12 noon. Only the AECI is required to attend to see if it will agree to refer the issues to the Labour Court for binding arbitration.

The General Secretary of the Technical Engineering and Electrical Union, Owen Wills, said after the latest round of talks that any referral to the Labour Court would be on the basis that there would be no deterioration in existing pay and conditions on those contained in the existing Registered Employment Agreement.
